Sigh. I went to Chili's Grill & Bar in such HIGH HIGH HIGH hopes. Then, they go and do THIS
to me.
What is that you ask, well... that is the PUNY little itsy bitsy teeny weeny portion of Country Fried CHICKEN Steak. Yes. CHICKEN steak. They changed their menu and got rid of the BEEF steak. So now, I am paying Rm34.95 for KFC taste alike. The garlic bread was bland, the mashed potato looks dodgy but tasted alright. My only favourite thing is the corn, but then I generally like corn so it doesn't count.

What is that you ask? Triple Play for Rm 22.95. In this picture you can't see how small it is, but I will show you another.
Cheng cheng! All that for the wonderful price of Rm22.95, don't you feel like you're getting your money's worth.

Well, it's only worth it cos it's BOTTOMLESS. So if you're low on cash, and you're VERY hungry, just order this and ice water and keep eating and drinking till you go blue in the face.

I feel kinda short changed for paying Rm20 for a piece of dessert. Especially when the dessert is the same price as the burgers. Okay la, the portion is pretty big, the cake is nice, the ice-cream and fudge nothing too special but complimented the cake well. But I feel that it should be priced at Rm15 - 16. 20 bucks for dessert is just TOO MUCH!

In the mornings Goldview Hakka Food Restaurant is a DimSum place, at night it's a Hakka food place. Today class, we will be telling you about DimSum. Everyone say 'DimSum'. Good class. So clever. You all get A's.
So yeah, anyway this place is actually the sister branch of the famous DimSum place in Taman Megah, you know the one near Ming Tien? Same row as Cake Sense. Ya, that one. Ini sister punya branch.

So anyway, I let you all know first, I do NOT know the names of all these DimSums, if you all do please email me and let me know!! Cos I really wanna know. Email is at side panel. The ones I do know I will write the names la, but names correct or not I not sure.

Stuffed Eggplants Prawn something?Egg tarts! Sadly, these egg tarts weren't as tasty as I would like them to be.Siew Mai!! Love love love love love!Dunno what's it called, but TASTY!!! One of my favs!!
Overall, everything was pretty good. I would definitely go back there again. In fact, I wish I could go back there now!

Over-rated. Over-charged. Under-Taste.

At first I thought, 'aiya... this place got so many good reviews from everyone, surely I will go back a second time to take pictures'. Heh. But after this first time, probably won't wanna go back. What's the place? Dragon-i. (So yes, this post will have NO pictures. They don't deserve it!)
Yeah, yeah you all are probably thinking, 'what? how can? that place is so famous!'. Well, it's famous alright. Famous for cheating you out of your hard earned money!

Ways they cheat you:

1. When you are seated at your table, the table is already set with those 'napkins' that are in a packet, you know the scented ones.
2. Then they serve you a small, small teeny tiny plate about 1 inch in diameter of some kinda peanut/bean thing.
3. They charge Rm1 per glass of water. (classy places don't charge for water.)
4. They charge Rm9 for their famous Xiao Long Bau aka Soup Dumpling, which only has 4 teeny tiny pieces. (Okay, this one is tasty, tastier if you eat it with the ginger they provide, otherwise it's a little plain.)
5. They charge Rm15-18 for a bowl of La Mien. They serve their soup La Mien in a GIANT bowl, but only fill it upto 1/3.

About the food:

1. Famous Xiao Long Bau aka Soup Dumpling. Rm9. (described as above)
2. Sichuan La Mien. Rm15 or 16, don't remember. (NOT SICHUAN AT ALL! Has some kinda weird peanut taste. Beks.)
3. Dried La Mien with Seafood. Rm16. (At least better than the Sichuan, but not worth Rm16.)

So the total for TWO people:
Rm50.40

If you do go there, make sure you only order the Rm9 dimsum and tell them NO to appetizer and napkin. Oh, and all the dishes we ordered were recommended by them.

Don't you think their logo looks a little like Starbucks? It's like the peacock in the circle is suppose to replace the Starbucks girl.

My favourite is definitely the Heaven Berry. Wow. The glaze on top is thick and creamy, the filling.. eh, who cares, all I care about it the glaze on top. Oreology is not bad, but I feel that they should put more Oreos on top, not Oreoy enough. The rest... so-so.

Big Apple Donuts
Sorry to say, the receipt didn't write what I bought so I can't remember what they're called.
Oh, and I bought 6 pieces each time, so the 2 pictures are actually 2 separate purchases.

If you had to buy donuts for the day, definitely DON'T go for Dunkin Donuts. They suck. They taste cheap. I think it's cos it's so floury. Beks.

Anyway between J.CO & Big Apple, they're about the same. The names of their donuts are about the same, the way they describe their donuts about the same, the way they package same, the way their logo looks also same, all same same la. Except I don't think Big Apple has the Heaven Berry, which I just LOVE! So creamy! It's like a rich, creamy, tastier version of Chupa Chups Strawberry & Cream. And I'm all about Strawberry & Cream.

And the long lines for these donuts? Alaaaa, kinda over-rated la. It's nice... but not to say you CAN'T live without it or you will DIE if you don't eat it. So over-rated la.

Well, not the best carbonara that's for sure, but for Rm14 it's aight la. I'd probably only go back for the pork.

Taste wise, Logenhaus is officially one of my favourite restaurants! It is definitely not as hip as Fridays, Chilli's, Tony Roma's etc, but for the quantity, service and taste it's worth it.

Okay, you may not be able to see the bacon, but I assure you it is wrapped around that piece of tasty meat! The meat was tender and juicy, the taste just burst into your mouth.

They really put alot of Salmon in this pasta! You can already see about... 9 pieces of salmon. It was good! I Love carbonara!!

I actually wanted to post this up a few days ago, but blogger was being stupid and I could only upload 1 picture at a time. So you know me la, cannot wait, I decided to just forget it. However, today at Starbucks I somehow managed to upload. So here's the post!

Another good alternative to Nirwana's is actually Kavitha's Curry House in Petaling Garden, near Khuntai Restaurant.
This place is definitely not as high end as Nirwana's but it is really good if you don't want to wait for a seat, too lazy to find parking, or just wanna get away from the crowd. Plus it kinda has more selection than Nirwana's.

Okay, environment and ambiance and cleanliness not as nice as Nirwana's la, but that's only cos Nirwana's in Bangsar, and everything is Bangsar is high class. Except some eyebrow threading place, they need to learn to thread Superstar Eyebrows, not To-Thin-Tranny Eyebrows, Uneven Eyebrows, or just plain bad eyebrows.

So you all should go, support the underdogs! Say no to foreign underpaid laborers!

Sushi Groove is one of the funnest place to hang out, I think it's because the interior is so pretty! What I didn't like about it was when you sit under the air-cond, OMG! It's freeeeeeezing! That and their chairs don't have backs, so you can't lean back.
Currently, Sushi Groove has a Set Lunch promotion. The Set Lunch comes with ice-cream and free flow of Ocha, the choices of food includes all the Rice and Noodles. Also, from 12pm - 6pm complimentary Premium Ocha can be redeemed with or without main meal, but only at the branch in Sunway Pyramid.

Right now, I have just cameth backth from le La Gourmet Houseth (click for previous post). I am le speaking like this for le now, because I am as le Politeia would say... buzzed. Yes, I, Lee Wei Ni (yes, for those of you who don't know, my surname is le Lee. Heh heh heh. I le made a lame joke... I le thinkth) am le buzzzzzed. Officially, Le Gourmet Houseth is one of le my favouriteth placeth.

So onto Le Food! My le favouriteth part!
Because Happy Hour is from 3pm to 9pm, me and le Popo had le drinks!

And le wine, is le not bad, well if it was bad I probably won't finish le it.

Heh heh heh, the bread is called Panini bread. Heh heh heh. I think they were a TAAAAD bit too generous with the vegetables and a TAAAAD bit too stingy with le meat!!! Taste wise, it is le not bad, not le great, but le not bad.

And after I had half of that, and didn't wanna eat bread and vege anymore (because I le COULDN'T find le meat!!) I decided to le order thiiiiiisss!

Carbonara and mushrooms and ONIONS! Le YAY-NESS!! *heart*heart*heart*heart*heart*!!! I don't know why I can't draw a heart, so you all have to just translate that into little red hearts that are going 'doob doob'. So if you are all still confused, I le liked it! Although out of the few pasta places I have eaten, I must say that the Carbonara at Bianco is my favourite. (yes, even better than Italiannies. Yes, I will eventually post it up too.)

So after having that, and le Popo still not yet finish le work. I decided I needed to have a dessert. So I went to le look at their cakes and such, and I le asked the waiter what ice-creams they had (and just so you know at this time I was a pretty happy buzzzzzed person), so le waiter told me their ice-cream had Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawberry all for Rm5 (and I made sure to ask, for Rm5? and he said, le yes.) So I le ordered!

And after all that meat all you want is something sweet. Heh heh, if it looks a bit sparse it's because I kinda drank it before taking a picture. Heh heh, forgot to take it. Heh heh.
Generally, I don't like to drink ginger, cos you kinda always expect it to taste foul, and it kinda always does, but this Ginger Juice is a ginger version of their Sweet Rice Dessert. I don't know the actual names.

Alaaaaa, it's SO CHEAP!! For SO MUCH FOOD!! I wanna go back again laaaaaa!!

The place itself is not very obvious so you probably will walk past it and not look twice, however if you do happen to spot it and sit down, they will make it worth your while.

If you all can't already tell. The Vegan had this. The Vegan said: "i like the concept of a clean, soft, thick crust. I like the concept of juicy tomatoes, and thick, heavy flavoured bell peppers and barely there cheese. I like the concept of a simplistic, stark, taste the roots of your flavour pizza. I don't like the concept of paying 30 bucks for tomatoes, pepper, olive oil and bread. With cheese. I don't like cheese." The Vegan is so fussy. The Vegan doesn't even like salads. Hi, my name is Wei Ni and I'm a Nirwanaholic (now you all say, Hi Wei Ni).

I always want to eat at this place. Whenever I'm at Bangsar I always want to eat there. It's like all other food just does not exist. Is it because it's cheap? Is it because the portions are big? Or is it just because it is cheap and big. Damn chinese. Why do I gots'ta be so cheap.

7 Steps Program. (or was it 8 steps?)
Step 1: Order Banana leaf and drinks.

Step 2: Wait for them to put the Banana leaf in front of you.

Step 3: Watch them put your rice greedily and ask for more.

Step 4: Watch them put Fried Bittergourd and greedily ask for more.

Step 5: Watch them put the middle dish which they sometimes change and ask for more if you like it.

Step 6: Watch them put their Cucumber Salad which sometimes is tasty, sometimes is so-so.

Step 7: Wait for either Fish curry (my favorite!), Chicken curry or Dhall. Then eat!

Gelatissimo. Aih. Doesn't the name have goodness just oooooooozing out of it.
I was at Gardens today and decided to check out this place because my brother has been RAVING about it, and he rarely raves. He says although it's more expensive than places like Lecka Lecka, Gelato Fruity, New Zealand Natural and such, he says it's totally worth the price.

So I went, tried out the flavours.... and OH.MY.GAWD. It is gooooooood. Aiyo, soft, smooth and it just melts in your mouth.

The Raspberry was a little tooooo sour, but the Lychee... OH.MY.GAWD. I've never tasted Lychee that good. Normally, when you order flavours like Lychee they somehow always taste artificial, buth this one... aiyooooooooooo. It's DAMN GOOD.

Black Cherry (1 scoop Rm8.30)
At first when I saw it I was skeptical. First of all, I kinda expected the ice-cream to either be reddish or a dark colour close to black, but it's white. When I tasted it, aiyoooooooo LOVE la! Words can't express how wonderful that ice-cream tasted.
Don't eat the cherry, it's those artificial cherry coloured black. Beks.

Single Awareness Day (S.A.D.)

That's what Albert kept saying ALL day, yesterday. Yes, yesterday was Valentine's Day. February the 14th. After our day of handing out flyers & posters for the Freedom Film Fest which Politeia is the coordinator for, we -or rather Albert- decided to eat at Strawberry Fields cos that is probably the nearest place in PJ State that he knows of.
Fair price restaurant. Beh! Some are fair priced lar, but some... like ICE WATER! Is Rm0.60!! WTF! They don't even offer free refills! Rm0.60 for water!!! MOFO! (yes, MOFO is word of the day)

Anyway, so we went there we were seated by who we think is the Boss, and he recommended us to have ButterCream with Rice (one of their specialty) and the Valentine's Day set.

Valentine's Day Set
Sweet Corn Crabmeat Soup
I think had they not put in the Crabmeat, this soup will be just like any other Sweet Corn soup. The Crabmeat definitely gave it a little sumthin' special. Albert said, that he didn't really like this soup very much because there was too much taste in it. He doesn't like it when there's too many taste in his food, the corn and crab taste all mixed up. He says, it's not bad one, he just doesn't like it.

Cheesy Chicken with Spaghetti and Fresh Vegetables
The spaghetti itself to me was nothing special but Albert said it was really special and normally the bolognaise he eats is doesn't taste like this. The chicken, well Albert said that alone with the sauce it isn't nice at all, but when you eat it together with the cheese, then it's much better.

Red Bean Delight
This is just Red Bean with Santan. It's nice and sweet. But you can't eat too much of it cos it gets just a little toooooooooo sweet. And this MOFO Albert, prior to this he had to order 1 small watermelon juice Rm3.20 and then this...

Because of his MOFO-ness, I had to finish the too sweet Red Bean Delight for him.

ButterCream with Chicken & Rice Rm7.20
The ButterCream comes with a choice of either Prawn, Chicken, Seafood and Fish. The Boss said the Prawn and Chicken are one of the most popular. This was really really good. The ButterCream had Cili Padi inside which just made a whole lotta difference to this meal, without it I doubt it will be as nice. Just eating the ButterCream and Cili Padi together is really really good.

Vegetarian Fried Rice Rm4.80
This according to Po the vegan, is a never ending rice. Before I tried it, I was kinda expecting nothing special, but when I tasted it, Whoa, it was actually quite good. Who woulda thought, Fried rice = really tasty.

This was a really big portion of Nasi Lemak. Normally, I do not like to pay over Rm3 for Nasi Lemak but for this I think it's pretty worth it. Until you add in the 5% gov. tax & 5% service tax, then it don't become so worth it anymore. Beks. But I still wish they would be more generous with the peanuts!!

DARREN and ALBERT!!!
If you had read our Zen post, you will know that we are unable to go back to Zen for a few months. So instead we went to Sushi Zanmai instead, a sister branch of Zen. (I like using cool words like 'sister branch', it makes me feel so pro.)
Sushi Zanmai has a conveyor-sushi while Zen doesn't, and it's definitely a Hipper & Cheaper place than Zen. They even have extra hidden places to sit in the back that you don't really notice when you step in. The only one problem I have with Sushi Zanmai is the fact that they don't have Bento sets! MOFO! I like my Bento sets, it has EVERYTHING in it! (MOFO is the word of the day)

Yes, that is all that Darren had because he says this place is expensive. WTF??? Not that expensive lar, plus it's worth it for the taste. I tried his Unagi and normally I DON'T like Unagi at all, but this one didn't have that strong Unagi taste which is good. According to Darren, the Unagi eater he says here has one of the best Unagi's.

Okay, honestly I've never really had the guts to order all these caviar things because if I ordered and didn't like it how? Then must pay for crap-ness. Beh. No thanks. I wasn't sure what I was expecting when I tasted this, but it just had a nice salty taste. I liked it.

Mmmm, I loved it! I love sushi! I just which that the Roe and the rice won't keep falling off whenever I dip it into Wasabi, I always feel so sad when I can't finish ALL of it and I will always attempt to eat ALL that has fallen, but it's very hard to pick up Roe!!! MOFO!

OH. MY. GAWD! I was totally expecting this to be a cold dish, and when I put it into my mouth and it was warm, WAH!!! DAMN NICE! One of my favourites definitely. Better than the California Temaki. Guess I know which I'm gonna be havin' again next time! The outside was warm and crunchy and the inside soft and tasty. WAH! SO nice!

I'm not sure from when to when, but apparently Fig & Olive has a set meal promotion for only Rm29.90.
I like to take flyers, and it's a good thing I did too, cos they don't have Credit Card service yet and this flyer gives you a 5% discount!

Soup of the day
This is a mushroom cream soup. It's not as thick as I would like it to be, but it is still tasty. The garlic bread wasn't that nice though. Not garlicky enough and not enough butter. I like my butter.

Drinks - Orange, Guava or Lime Juice
We ordered the Lime Juice. I'm just glad it's not too limey, it's a perfect blend of sweet and sour.

Dessert - Sliced Fresh Fruits
Originally, it was suppose to be fruits, but they ran out! YAY for me!! So they gave us strawberry ice-cream with whipped cream, peanuts and strawberry syrup instead! The ice-cream isn't anything special, it's better than those Marigold brands, but not quite Baskin Robbins ya know.

Main Course
Grilled Dory Set
It comes with salad and spaghetti. On a VERY big plate. The sauce on the Dory Fish was really tasty. If you don't like the taste of fish very much, make sure you eat it with the sauce because the taste of fish is kinda strong. The whole meal was generally very big and filling. I think it's the pastas' fault.

Figo Cyprus Set
Beef. Since I was craving beef that day... but I'm usually craving beef. Wever. The beef is not quite as big as the fish, but it's 1 1/2 to 2cm thick. They didn't ask me how I wanted my beef cooked so they brought it in what I presume to be Med-Well, but when I bit in to it, it has the toughness level of Well-Done. It also comes with salad and pasta. Although I'm not quite such a fan of the salad, I think it's because of the Olives. I guess I don't like the taste of Olives. Besides the toughness of the meat, it was a pretty good eat. Again the pasta... FILLING!

Indonesian Flat Fried Chicken. Huh?

Aih. Just looking at the fried chicken and thinking about them makes me hungry. This is why I should never write a food blog. Writing is just not the same as tasting yo. Fried chicken. Aih. Why art thou so tasty?

Indonesian Food Traditionally. That's Waroeng Penyet's tag line.Fried chicken is an Indonesian traditional food?? Really? I always thought it came from texas. Aih. Fried chicken.

Currently they have a Lunch Express Set Special, from Monday to Friday, 12pm to 3pm.
Rm8.90 includes rice and soft drink (refillable).
Choose from: Ayam Penyet (flattened fried chicken), Empal Penyet (flattened fried beef), Ayam Panggang (grilled chicken) and Gulai Ayam (chicken gulai stew)

Rm7.90 includes rice and soft drink (refillable).
Choose from: Soto Ayam (javanese chicken soto), Rawon Daging Soup (java beef soup) and Bakso (java beef ball soup).

And so we ordered our meal, at the counter. Which is weird. If they can seat us and deliver our orders, they can take our orders. So we ordered at the counter and this is what they gave us. But then they didn't charge service tax, so I guess that's fair. No government tax either! Well, not yet anyway.
We ordered the set with Ayam Penyet.

This is really really good! Although it looks a little small, it really isn't it's just flattened. The chicken is juicy, the meat tender and on it's own it isn't very crunchy, but with the flakes thing it is. It really isn't as spicy as they said it is, but it's still good.

Next, the set with Ayam Panggang.
This is not their specialty but it is still tasty. It's juicy and soft. Both meals came with fried nuggets as well, honestly, not such a fan of their nuggets, the texture and taste is a little weird.

The rice.
Just any normal rice.

Soft drink and Water (which costs Rm1 extra.)

How to find the place.
Okay, I would probably go back to this place again, cos the chicken is so weird that I wanna taste it again, just to be sure the second time around that I will keep going back.

Nasi Lemak. I love nasi lemak. Chances of nasi lemak failing your taste buds are slim. Very Slim. And this nasi lemak did not fail! Although they coulda given more peanuts and ikan bilis. If this was a rich food blog, I'd make y'all count the peanuts and those who get the answer correct the blog will belanja them Nasi Lemak. Unfortunately for y'all, this is not a rich blog, nor is it a sponsored blog. So NO free nasi lemak.
This is one of the best nasi lemak I have tasted, although Politeia's mother's nasi lemak is better. Serious. No joke. I don't joke about food.

Friendster Cafe Vs. Bianco

Okay, technically it is not fair to compare Friendster Cafe & Bianco, because they are both very different places. Friendster Cafe is like a higher-class-free-for-all version of mamak, while Bianco is this nice-little-quaint-pizza-&-pasta place. Well, you can tell which place I personally prefer la.
Anyway, since I had Carbonara at both places I thought it is now fair to compare them. Plus, it doesn't matter whether you're a pizza-&-pasta restaurant or a free-for-all mamak, food still should be tasty!

Friendster Cafe
During Friendster Cafe's opening in Sunway Pyramid, they had a discount so I got 2 drinks for free and a opening discount of 30%. Which I say is good because they charge me 10% service tax. I hate all these service tax nonsense. Buek.
Anyway, the ambiance is nice, although it can get a little hot but that's why they invented fans with water! Friendster Cafe is definitely a chill out friendly place. It has magazines, WIFI, and games too I think, but I'm not too sure. It's a good place to relax and chill yes.
They pretty much have a little of everything, but sometimes when you have a little of everything, the everything has very little taste.

Bianco is this nice little all white place in Damansara Perdana. The white looks very good yes, but it is Malaysia and things tend to get dirty, and get dirty very fast. The place is clean don't get me wrong, just that... white floors might be good indoors, but not so good outdoors. However the ambiance is very refreshing and cooling, it is a place where you can sit and chill for a long time.
The menu selection isn't very big, which can be a good thing and a bad thing.
Good thing: You don't have to spend too long a time deciding what to eat.
Bad thing: There isn't alot to choose from.

Bianco Place Mats!
If only they used reusable ones, aih. The paper ones are just slowly killing killing killing trees.

Fettuccine Carbonara
They claim this to be the old-fashioned way of making carbonara with egg inside. It sounds weird I know, but it taste great! Only for Rm16!! So cheap!! There's mushrooms, asparagus (not my favourite vegetable) and chicken bacon! It's really creamy and not too thick, but just right.

More bills.
Bueks. 10% service charge. I don't know why they wanna charge service tax for such a small place, it's not like the waiters walk very far okay!

On Saturday night, I went to have dinner at a restaurant in Jaya One... What's so special about that? Well, nothing really...

EXCEPT I CRASHED TWO WEDDINGS! Bahahahahaha!
Weddings I crashed. We we're sitted waaaaay at the back, near the toilets and near the kitchen. Had a good view of who the bride and groom did not like, as they were sitted near us too! The staff was very nice and efficient, always refilling drinks and taking away plates. They kept apologising for sitting us at a sucky place too!

Well, okay I didn't crash crash it lar, but our table was the only table there that was NOT part of either weddings.

After watching Will & Grace (a show which everyone needs to watch), I feel that every shop that serves bowls of hot noodles should always say "Hot plate! Hot plate!", and not "Guan Sui! Guan Sui", which my sparse cantonese knowledge tells me it means "Hot water! Hot water!".
Anyhooooooo, yesterday for Thaipusam I had seafood noodles at Restaurant Yu Ai in Segambut. They have another branch in Chow Yang SS2, but I feel the one in Segambut is bettah. Cos it's originalah.

They serve 3 different types of soups.
Clear Soup/Dry
We ordered the soup one, cos that's what they're famous for anyway. While I was there, I don't think I ever saw anyone ordering Dry.

Curry
My favourite! It's not very spicy, so it's better if you put in belacan.

Tom Yam
Aihhhhh... There was so much potential! So much hope! And then they go and make it too sour.

Previously (and by previously I mean a few months ago) it used to be Rm12 for small and Rm14 for big. Now it is Rm14 for small and Rm16 for big. I don't know if you all can tell, but the small is still pretty big, and the big... is really big! When it comes to food and men.. no one likes small.

Fu Kua Restaurant. Yes. That is the name of the shop. Fu Kua basically means bitter gourd. You might ask, now why would I wanna goto a restaurant like that? Well, first of all the place looked interesting with it's very wooden chairs. I'm attracted to the chairs I don't know why. It makes the place feel homey. Secondly, my brother wanted to go there because his friend recommended the Marmite Chicken.

So what did we order?
Fu Kua with Asam Boi Rm2
Wow. Bitter gourd and asam boi. What were they thinking? Okay la, if you like bitter gourd and asam boi you will like this. Since I'm not much of a bitter gourd and asam boi person, this isn't for me. BUT REMEMBER TO SITR BEFORE DRINKING!

Fu Kua Soup Rm10
Soup with tomatoes and chicken. Or is that pork? I forgot, and I can't really tell. Either way, the soup luckily wasn't that bitter gourd-ish and the bitter gourd isn't that bitter either, prolly cos the soup telah serapkan the bitter-ness. But funny ah, the soup itself not that bitter-ish.

YAY YAY! Exciting and inspirational!! TASTY! I like!! For all you non-marmite liking people, the marmite isn't that strong lar! It's kinda like Lemon Chicken but marmite. So means tasty lar! I'm gonna go look at the picture and fantasise. Okay, the picture doesn't look very appetising, but it is! It really is!

Overall, I think the food is kinda pricey and it doesn't taste that great. It's aight. But still worth a try. If I were to go back, I would go back just for the Marmite Chicken.
So this place is definitely for bitter gourd lovers, cos they have bitter gourd everything there!

I normally don't like to support Singaporean things. Except maybe Singaporean cleanliness, Singaporean efficient public transportation, Singaporean better National Service, Singaporean better roads..... okay, so maybe I do support some Singaporean things. But when it comes to food, HOW CAN SUPPORT SINGAPOREAN!!!
Sad to say, when it comes to Jack's Place... I would choose it over Dave's Deli any day. Can't help it if their food is better. Their service is better. Their cleanliness... probably better. But then if you're eating Jack's Place in Malaysia, you never know....

It comes with the wonderful BAKED POTATO! The baked potato is HUGE! Toppings include sour cream, spring onions and bacon bits!! I love bacon!!! I love pork bacon more.. but since it's halal place... chicken bacon will have to do.
This wonderful set comes with beef, lamb, chicken, fish, sausage, chicken bacon, egg, vegetables and potato. The best meat in this set, if you can believe it, is the chicken! I don't know why.. but it's just so good! Crispy! Crunchy! Juicy! Aiseh!
All for Rm30!! Can you imagine that!! So worth it lar!! Love love love love love!! Plus no celery. I don't care what you say JanFaye, celery sucks!

Tony Roma's. Wow. Where do I even start.
If you all don't already know, Tony Roma's is famous for their flame-grilled beef ribs (as if any other animal's ribs are worth eating. But hey, that's just my opinion).
As far as I know, Tony Roma's can be found in Sunway Pyramid, Cineleisure Damansara, Mid Valley Gardens and Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.
Now, onto food!

Appetizers
Free Bread with Garlic Butter
Sometimes they don't serve this free appetizer, so if you would like to try it, just ask them la. Their staffs are very friendly and nice. Always drawing smiley faces on your receipt. :)
Taste wise, the bread is really fresh and soft. However, I'm not too crazy about the Garlic Butter. It just doesn't quite do it for meh.

Fried Mushrooms Rm14.90
Although not quite as tasty as the one in Friday's, but for the price and the size that they serve, it's kinda more worth it than Friday's. The dip provided is Honey Mustard, really tasty. It brings out the flavour of the mushrooms very well. In fact, the dip you can basically eat it with anything! It's really good!

Potato Skin Rm14.90
Mmm, just looking at this picture is bringing back memories. Mmm. Although the portion is not quite as worth it as the Fried Mushrooms, the taste is there. They are very generous with their bacon! And I LOVE bacon!!

Chicken Tenders Rm17.90
Okay, honestly... not my favourite dish. In fact, I don't really like it at all. It's like a really giant sized glazed nugget, which is not very tender. Definitely something I won't be ordering again.

Lunch Sets
Their sets come with refillable soft drinks and a soup of the day. The price of the lunch sets depends on what you order. All in all, the lunch sets are pretty worth it.

This one is SO worth it! The chicken is soft and tender with just enough sauce. They will always provide you with 4 different sauce choices, it comes in a metal holder. My favourite is the Smokies!! Oh ya, and all side dishes can be changed for no extra cost. Unlike Fridays.

Lunch set with Roma Burger Rm21.90
Whoa! This burger is big!! What I love about it, is the GIANT ONION! I love onions! Onions are a must in salads and burgers! Well, for you non-onion lovers, the burger itself is BIG, tasty and definitely worth your money.

Okay, I did something stupid. Something very stupid. I accidentally joined these 2 pictures together and now I am too lazy to change'em back!
Back to the ribs. The ribs in Friday's has more meat. I would compare it to Chilli's but unfortunately, I don't go there often enough.
For lazies, definitely go for the Boneless Ribs (I almost wanted to say Ribless Bones). Because of the lack in size, for Rm48.90 + gov. tax + serv. tax = Not worth it!
When I saw it's PUNY size, I was so disappointed and shocked. So just order the lunch set, at least you get free soup and drink.

Sigh, receipt lost. Don't remember what this is called. Don't remember how much is it. All I do remember is that it was tasty! And got so much froth!! I LOVE froth!!!

Beef Sandwich with Fries
I sadly forgot where I put the receipt and therefore forgot the price, however I think it was either under Rm20 or just slightly above. Either way, this is worth it! This is what's inside... Cheese + Tomato + Sauce + Onion Rings + Beef + Beef +Beef + Beef!!!
They give TWO of that!! Now who can finish TWO??? One is already hard enough!! So if you're a little low on cash and want a very filling meal. This is it for you!

Tasty tasty! You would think that the ginger would overpower everything else, but it actually doesn't. Although the fish is a liiiiiittle small, but it's still good.

Yay yay! I love pandan chicken! Although this pandan chicken could be better. It's just so-so only. Very disappointing.

This one is tasty, except for the fact that they put too much flour and too little kangkong!!

Honestly, the Potato and Onion Rings were better than the Beef. Beef was seriously lacking. If you're looking for a good beef meal, this is not it.

This is worth more than it's cost. It is just so damn good! The size and the amount of seafood they put inside is just... godlike.

Eh, what can I say. It's nice.

Saba Fish with Mussels - Rm40
Where do I even start. Wow. This is where Godlike came from. This set. The fish! mmm! The mussels with cheese!! mmm! Worth every cent. Well, not that worth lar. The portion size not that big, although they did give 8 mussels but Rm40 is still kinda alot. But just for the taste. It is worth it.

Ribena with Longan - Rm6
Sweet, refreshing, tasty and HUGE! Can't you just see the refreshing-ness just ooooooozing out.
Although sometimes it's just a little too sweet.

Today, we decided to take a road trip (Priya: A short one, which ended up quite long.) to find Just Heavenly, (Priya: The Holy Grail of Cakes. according to other bloggers -asaid sourly.-) So the 3 of us set out in our dented car, another sore issue -Wei Ni and Priya are both writing this by the way- hungrily. We started at 2pm with only Rm10 each.

Duh. saving money for cake!!
Oh, and Politeia being vegan does not eat cake. So with that small budget, we decided to eat us some cake. After a very long and winding trip, and many phone calls, both to friends and the bakery, we finally managed to find their tiny little store -Wei Ni says tiny little store sarcastically. So read it that way.- hidden away in Bukit Damansara. The Rich People's Place. Ptui. We being the not rich people are sour. DUH. Oh, and all the rich people, tried to kill us, in front of a police station! Just because they can afford bribes doesn't mean we can!! (Po: They tried to kill y'all because you were going opposite the traffic on a one way.)

Anyway, back to the cakes. We finally found the place, and the pretty cakes. Paid RM1 for parking. The parking attendant was very nice, unlike some rich people. (Po: They are just jealous of the rich because they have lifestyles and houses Wei Ni and Priya will never achieve. Oh calamity.)

Tada!! That is Death by Chocolate. Which we didn't buy, because we thought it was too small! and too expensive! It was Rm 8.90. It is as small as it looks. (Po: It's a very pleasant sight for vegetarians, because vegetarians rely on aesthetic beauty and not much taste.) NEXT!!

We don't really know what this is called (Priya: So we call it banana flambe) Wei Ni disagrees, she is sure it's a banana cream something. It's RM 9.90 by the way. But then it's the biggest among the rest so...NEXT! Onto things that we actually bought...

Butter Buttercup Rm 4.90

Better than it looks. Could be bigger. (Po: Are y'all insulting my photography?). Wei Ni sighs, such perasan-ness. Rm 4.90 for a cupcake. We feel cheated somehow. Even though it tasted so good. (Po: One couldn't tell from the cries of ecstasy emanating from the two fools while they were forking it into their enlargened throats.) We still wish there could be more. (Priya: Well the vegan shouldn't talk, she wasn't sharing it between two people and a mother. Who hungrily went "Where's my cake??" In Malayalam.)

Choc n Cheese Rm 8.90

We debating between choc/cheese and choc n cheese. We think it's choc n cheese. For those who love choc, and love cheese. Well the best part about it was the cream, everything else about it was aight la. That was good. Just the cream. Iffy. The rest was iffy, not the cream.

Chocolate Durian. Rm 8.90.

Where do we even start? We ask ourselves. (Po: Durians suck.) (Priya: Po sucks.) You would think that that would be the ultimate combination. Sadly it wasn't. Like all things with too much advertising, they always tend to let you down. Okay this wasn't advertised, but it let us down. Big time. Get the drift. It looked so pretty; Looks are deceiving; Our expectations were so high; but even with no expectations you can't get over the chili taste. It seriously burned our throats. Like deepthroating liddat. Without the hacking and saliva. Well Wei Ni hacked a bit. Even the mother hacked. And EVEN the CAT. (Priya: We tried to feed the cat the chocolate, and she licked it and then her face scrunched up prettily and she turned her small head away in disgust. After that when I offered her somemore, she gave me this look of disgust.)

Just Heavenly has no cafe, so they are co-joined with Chef & Brew.

Well we were so poor we could only afford drinks. (Priya: You didn't even take a picture of my drink, and it was the tastiest.) (Wei Ni: It was too sweet!) (Po: I can't eat cream!)

So we ordered Earl Grey Tea (Wei Ni: Ordered with such high hopes) and Priya ordered the Hazelnut Mocha Blended. (Po: The earl grey tea tasted like soap and detergent. Is this how the rich eat?) (Wei Ni: It tasted funny but it didn't taste like detergent! But since I paid Rm 4.90 for it already I finished two pots. And I wanted to take the tea bag home.) But she didn't have a container. Wouldn't it have been funny if the waiter took the pot to the kitchen and they looked into it and went 'Huh? Where's the tea bag?' (Wei Ni: I could have taken the whole pot. -helpfully said-)

P.S by Wei Ni: I hate places that charge service charge. There should be places where we can decide how much we want to give for service -stops talking and hacks and spits her anger-

Cakes Cost: Rm 8.90 + Rm 8.90 + Rm 4.90 -NO TAX- = Rm 22.70
Drinks Cost: Rm 4.90 + Rm 7.90 + TAX = Rm 15.87

Was it worth it?: Not really. We could have saved on the crap cake and the detergent tea (Wei Ni stormily: Was not detergent.), and of the choc n cheese only the cream was worth it. So go there and order something else, and tell us how you feel. We accept all comments.

PS: We did not get the chance to try everything so we're not sure if its completely not worth it. Other bloggers found it totally hot so maybe there's something there that we did not find. (Po: Like a treasure chest in heaven or something.) (Priya: I think we get the drift. So long winded...she's still going on as we speak...)

We Don't Care About NANDO'S We Already Said.

Wei Ni got a coupon -cheap chinese- (WN: What jusco people give us what, we buy secret stuff they give us, is good) for a free quarter chicken (WN: Only. No set.) if she spent over RM25 in a single receipt. So we all had to go to Nando's in Damansara Jaya, Atria: The Dead Zone.
Wei Ni prods us to talk about the rude waiters. Wei Ni asks you to note the SSS is waiterSSS. They refused to refill their refillable ice lemon tea (WN: Which is 5.25 and is that small -makes alarmingly small gesture with two fingers to show small size.-) and didn't come when they were called. Calamity.
Nando's only nice because of the spiciness in the chicken, and this Nando's wasn't spicy. (WN: Anyway the old nando's was better, they shrunk their plates, they shrunk the food size and they increased the price and TAX.)
It's so boring to talk about Nando's. Old news. Maybe cos we eat there too much, and we ended up there only because cheap chinese wanted her free chicken. And yaya too (Priyayayayaya)

Today I feel dramatic.

The year was 1986, it was a bitterly cold and unforgiving christmas, the earth shivered under uncomfortable sheets of snow, snow that I would never see. The year was 1986, and I was lying in a bed, no crib for the poor, no snow near the equatorial line. In 1986 Michael Jackson made headlines for sleeping in that box of glass so he could live to 150, he wanted to be known as bizarre.

In the year 1986 on a christmas afternoon a girl-child was born, and there was no frankincense or myrrh, no wisemen and no stable. Certainly no stable because had there been cattle, the demon girl-child would most certainly have made headlines in 1986 and Michael Jackson would not have been bizarre that year.

The Star: Newborn child found gnawing on the leg of a cow.

25, December, 1986 ASSUNTA MEDICAL CENTER: A newborn baby girl was found trying to chew the flesh off a live cow with just her gums in a stable on the premises of assunta hospital.

It reportedly took three paramedics, a priest and a rib eyed steak 6 hours to convince the baby to let go of the bleeding cow. Her parents have refused to comment on this bizzare incident. Japanese food. Who doesn't love Japanese food?

-FLASH BACK- Reading is optional. But not preferred.
Back in the days before college, Politeia used to HATE Japanese food. I think it is because she went to have it with the UNMENTIONABLE and not me, Lover of all... most food. Our friends may know Politeia very well for always talking, and that was exactly what she was doing when she literally SLATHERED on Wasabi on a piece of sushi she was eating, and popped it into her mouth. As you all know, Wasabi is not for the faint of heart and therefore she grabbed her drink which happened to be Coke thinking it would make the heat go away. Unfortunately that only served to make situations worse for her. And after that she swore never to eat sushi again, except the Tempura stuff. Then one night, out of nowhere, she had a dream that she was eating Japanese food and she loved it. The day after she had a craving for sushi and since we never do things in small portions we had sushi almost two to three times a week for about a month.

Zen. Doesn't the name promise something wonderful and tasty? Yes, it does. We went to Zen with our hopes all high and ready to order. There was beef and there was fish. Both were very very tasty.

UNFORTUNATELY,
while eating the rice, we found a small baby cockroach in it!!! Since we're very nice people we calmly called the waitress and told them about our cockroach situation.

The manager was very apologetic and offered to replace our rice and gave us free Macha ice-cream!

DOUBLE UNFORUNTATELY,
when we were about to leave, we were given a bill. A BILL!!! For eating cockroach rice!! Again being the nice people that we are, we told them we were not going to pay. After much debate among the head chef, manager and waiters and waitresses, they decided we didn't have to pay after all! Which is very good news, seeing as how we ate HALF A BOWL of cockroach rice.

Sadly now we will never be able to go back to Zen for a very very long time. Except for the cockroach incident, WE STILL LOVE ZEN!! They have one of the best sushi's around. Everything is fresh and really tasty.

How we felt when we couldn't go back to Zen.

Oh, and about the price, well it is a little pricey but worth it. Except the Macha ice-cream. It costs RM6. Which is kinda ridiculous for such a small scoop.

How we spent Christmas

Okay, this is our very first post for our food blog Black Cream. YAY!
This is how we spent Christmas for 2007!

A week or 2 ago we decided, hey won't it be nice to have an eating day for Christmas? Cutting the story short we decided to head to Sunway Pyramid cos they have a new wing and got ALOT of new shops we wanted to try out.

First place we went to:- Michelangelo's Italian Kitchen

When we very first saw the name of this place, we were like Wah! So nice sounding must be good right the food. Then when we reached there and saw the interior we were also like Wow, not bad ar this place looks. And so with our hopes really really high we walked in.
Looking at the menu we were quite impressed with the variety they had and had a very hard time choosing. Finally we ordered our food and 4 ice water.
We were very excited and when our water came, Politeia and I, Wei Ni. Nahahahaha this post making me feel so writerly! heh heh heh. Back to post. We drank our water and as we were drinking we realised that cheng cheng cheng, there was a strange and foul smell emanating from the glass. Not being able to stand the smell we sent it back and they sent us back the water with lemon inside as if that will help. Well, it helped a bit, but we already knew that the glasses were not washed very well. Just had to put that bad experience in.

Overall rating of the food:- It could have been better. The whole experience was kinda bland. bland. bland. bland. bland. Well, it was okay lar. It's edible but not really for the price you pay. But the presentation was very nice, it looks nicer than it actually tastes.
And all that for the wonderful price of:-
So will we visit there again? Well... maybe. But not for a looooooooooooong time. And maybe if we're really desperate.

Second place we went to:- Fig & Olive

So after that tragic incident at Michelangelo's, we were rather upset and disappointed so we decided that the next place we go we will only order 1 dish and share.
We decided to head to a place Politeia has been bugging us to go check out, Fig & Olive. The place is not as pretty as Michelangelo's but according to Politeia's nose, which she claims it's never wrong, this place is suppose to be really good.
When we went there we saw a flyer that said order an signature dish and get 1 free ice cream, being cheap and greedy we decided it was a sign from God.
Fig & Olive is a Mediterranean food place, and the menu has a looooooooooot of good stuff. They all look soooooo tasty! Unfortunately we could only order 1 dish so we settle for the Fig Surprise.

Fig Surprise - It is SO GOOD! mmmmm!! It has cheese, figs, chicken, tomatoes and oh so many wonderful and fresh ingredients! This is really really good! Not only does it looks really good, it tastes really good! Go and order this!! Go GO GOOOO!
Free Ice Cream - Well, it's free. We can't complain. Not that best ice cream, but still alright. It has 2 scoops and comes with whipped cream and colourful sprinkles.

So will we visit again? YES YES YES YES YES!

Third place we went to:- Yip's Kitchen

After our happy times at Fig & Olive, we thought nothing could go wrong anymore and headed out to find a new place to eat. Again we decided to head to a place where Politeia has been bugging people to go. Yip's Kitchen.
We went there, totally forgetting our ordering 1 dish only rule and ordered a dish a person.
After ordering, James wanted to know if his dry noodles came with soup, and when the server said no, he became upset and thought that it was stupid that they didn't give soup.

Overall rating for the food:- It was really pretty good. We were satisfied as we left. Politeia loves their Plain Noodles. I had the Shrimp Wan-Ton Noodles and thought that although the noodles were a little plain, they were plain in a good way. Although it's a little pricey but it was worth it, not 100% worth it, but maybe 80%.
And all that for the wonderful price of:-
So will we visit again? Yes! Definitely.

Last place we went to:- House Korea

After our wonderful meals at Fig & Olive and Yip's Kitchen, what we really wanted was to just end our day with me and Yaya's culture food. If you all don't already know, me and Yaya are Korean. KOREAN. Just had to make that very clear.
We left Sunway Pyramid and headed off to SS2 for some good Korean food.
Unfortunately for this place, we didn't take a picture of the receipt and therefore we don't quite remember what we ordered. But will try our best to tell you the food.

Overall rating of the food:- Very big quantities. Appetizers are bottomless. Tasty! Looking at it again is making me wanna eat there now! Good times. Very good times.
